It is a city marked by cultural, political and economic traits inherited from the Portuguese, Spanish, Italians and also from the Japanese, considering that the city had a relevant colony of these immigrants.

How to get
Located on the right bank of the Amazon River, Parintins is only accessible by boat or plane:
Plane: There are direct flights Manaus-Parintins, which may last 1 hour or 40 minutes, depending on the plane. During the festival period the flights have several daily frequencies. Even so, the ideal is to get the ticket in advance. Outside the festival period, MAP is the airline that offers daily flights to Parintins.
Boat - The trip takes eight to 24 hours, depending on the boat. During the festival period, the line boats leave the port of Manaus Moderna and are moored at the edge of Parintins until the end of the festival. The traveler can tie his hammock and sleep on the boat. In this type of boat, which takes an average of 200 passengers, the trip takes between 18h and 24h. The return takes longer, on average 24 hours.
Tickets are purchased at the Manaus Moderna port in Manaus South Zone or directly from the boat owners.
In addition to the slower line boats, it is also possible to get to Parintins on the "A Jet", closed fast boats that take six to eight hours of travel. In these speedboats, which can hold up to 90 people, it is not possible - nor necessary - to stay overnight.

Gastronomy
Rich, tasty, diverse and with a peculiar caboclo touch from Parintinense, the cuisine of Parintins stands out for serving typical dishes that blend traditional palates with a hint of innovation, introducing spices and flavors that the generous nature of the Amazon offers. Baked, fried, boiled in marinade sauce, breaded, tucupi, tucumã paste or taperebá sauce, fish is the favorite dish, closely followed by duck and free-range chicken.

Security
With the exception of some known high-risk areas (essentially in urban areas) and easily identifiable, tourist Brazil has a medium safety profile. Thus, as a rule, some caution and attention is advised when walking on foot in urban centers, especially at night, even in places of high tourist frequency, because of the possible occurrence of robberies and theft, sometimes with great physical violence.
Transporting and displaying any objects that may be viewed as valuable is not recommended. In the event of a robbery, one should never offer the least resistance or seek escape, given the high possibility of being subjected to violence.
Motoring at night or using taxis that are not accredited by the tourist authorities or recommended by hotel units should be avoided.
Tourists are advised to bring only photocopies of their documents, leaving the originals in the hotel safe.
