Amalfi Coast
South of Naples, more or less on the shin of the graceful boot that is the map of Italy, this Tyrrhenian Sea paradise attracts famous, millionaire or simply enthusiasts of a wonderful coastline. The 50-kilometer coastline is a true showroom of natural exuberance, with azure sea, spectacular views, narrow roads with incredible villages, luxury, glamor - and, of course, salty prices and crowded beaches (especially in summer). The Amalfi Coast is bordered to the north by Vietri Sul Mare, just above Salerno, and to the south by the Sorrento Peninsula. There are several recommended points: in Amalfi, the main city in the region and one of the best tourist facilities, there is an impressive 9th century cathedral, built under the influence of different styles such as Byzantine, Baroque and Norman Arabic. Positano rubs the visitor's eyes in front of their houses, set on the steep hill, dazzling when illuminated at night, and close to Grotta dello Smeraldo, a spectacular cave with water between green and turquoise. The views of Ravello, home of a major music festival, are breathtaking to the Greek islands. The view from Villa Rufolo, on dramatic cliffs, is beautiful. And the beaches like those of the small towns Maiori and Minori are a must.
Tourism
Sprawled along the southern part of the Sorrentine Peninsula, the Amalfi Coast dazzles with its mysterious caves, steep cliffs and shady bays. Just choose a place overlooking the sea and take one of the region's buses to marvel at the legendary route between the artistic Positano and Amalfi.
Ravello offers a respite from the crowds, as well as the fascinating Villa Cimbrone, overlooking Salerno Bay. The historic part of Sorrento has winding streets full of artisans. To get to Capri, just take the airboat or a ferry.
Gastronomy
The Amalfi Coast is a great tourist destination known also for its delicious gastronomy. If you are looking for a travel destination with fine dishes and fine wines, this will surely be a perfect choice. Some of the most famous wines and typical foods can be found by the coast. Popular wines include Costa D'Amalfi DOC: Tramonti, Furore, Ravello and are made from grapes grown on steps carved into mountainous terrain. These fruits are largely derived from grapes from the Roman Empire. Campania also produces famous wines such as Falerno Del Massico and Falanghina. The cuisine of the region is basically Mediterranean with Neapolitan influence. Many fish, seafood and lighter pasta dishes set the tone for this aromatic cuisine. And of course the famous pizza is also present. It's amazing how, within a few miles of the Amalfi Coast, the ways of cooking and local produce can vary so much.

The same ingredients, matured under the same sun or grown in the same sea, get different flavors and smells, unique and particular. Each small town has on its plate, in its way of cooking, a culinary and gastronomic culture that characterizes it and is jealously guarded. Care is taken to use fresh ingredients “in season” and this habit makes it all the more attractive. Fior di latte is fresh mozzarella made from cow's milk from neighboring Monti Lattari mountains. Paestum, Battipaglia and Caserta produce the buffalo mozzarella. There are also many other delicious cheeses that this province offers. Gragnano's hard-grain pasta is considered one of the finest, top-quality Italian pasta, and is a favorite of local chefs.

The vegetables are grown near Amalfi and have a rich flavor. Eggplant turns into a base for local cuisine specialties. Ciligino Tomatoes (small and round) Vesuvio (small and slightly elongated) and Sorrento (large and juicy) give color and flavor to many dishes. All this coastline offers a wide variety of fish and shellfish. Fish like Pezzogna, Spada, Orata, Spigola and Tuna share attention with shrimps, octopuses, squids, volleys and more. Italian and European desserts complete the meal. Tiramisù, profiterole and the worldwide applauded Italian ice cream are among the most tasted. Delizie al Limone and Torta di Mandorla are typical sweets. The last one takes almond flour and chocolate.
Weather
The sunny weather and warm Mediterranean climate is a major factor contributing to so many people vacationing in Amalfi each year. Amalfi winters are warm and pleasant, while the summer weather is hot and often very hot, but rarely uncomfortable.
Each season in Amalfi has something different to offer, with the winter weather giving daytime temperatures of around 12 ° C (54 ° F), rising to around 29 ° C (84 ° F) or even 30 ° C (86 ° F) during August. The summer sun attracts the largest number of tourists, who come to this region to relax on the beaches and swim in the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
