Bonito
Bonito is a Brazilian municipality in the Midwest, located in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, famous for its crystalline waters and impressive geological formations, considered the heart of eco-tourism in Brazil.
Bonito has its origins in the history of the constitution of the city of Miranda, linked to the Spanish expansion, in the sixteenth century in the Paraguay valley, as a support for the expeditions that sought to reach the mines of Peru.
With the discovery of gold in Cuiabá the Portuguese expelled the Spaniards from the Valley of the Paraguay River region.
The small village began to develop and was elevated to the category of city and changed its name to Miranda, and after War of Paraguay (1865-1870), in 7 of October of 1871 Miranda was elevated to the category of city.
A farm named Rincão Bonito was bought by Captain Luiz da Costa Leite Falcão, who arrived in Brazil in 1869, and had the mission to expel those from that region.
Captain Falcão was the first official and notary in that place, encouraged the establishment of the first inhabitants in this new place, so on June 11, 1915, Rincão Bonito was elevated to the Paz de Bonito District, dividing the area of the city of Miranda, but with subordinated administratively.
Only on October 2, 1948 Rincão Bonito was elevated to the category of city with the name Bonito.
