These include the 1100 metre tall Brocken Mountain in the nearby nature reserve. The historic towns of Wernigerode and Blankenburg both have castles and are not far. You can also enjoy the famous steam train which meanders through this beautiful region. You can be on the Braunlage ski-slopes within thirty minutes by car in winter. The smaller ski-areas of Hahnenklee and the Sankt Andreas Mountain are only an hour away.
