Lovers' bridges are found in many parts of the world: in Park Güell in Barcelona; on the Vasse Canal, in France; on the Dnieper river in Kiev; on the river Seine in Paris (Pont Marie). There is also the Bridge of Lovers in the Colombian Caribbean.

On the artificial Aury canal, which connects Old Providence with Santa Catalina, is the floating bridge of Los Enamorados. It is supported on fixed and floating rafts and in the center has a tunnel that gives way to small boats. The Bridge of Lovers, which connects the islands of Providencia and Santa Catalina, is unique not only for its incredible color. This picturesque floating bridge helped the 200 inhabitants of the island of Santa Catalina to mobilize and cross the sea to reach the city center, school or hospital, since before its construction people had to cross the canal of long water of about 150 meters in canoes or pirogues.

Along the entire length of the bridge, small wooden benches with engraved figures of crabs have been placed and the street lamps that illuminate the bridge at night.
