The Schillerpark is located in Berlin's Wedding district (Mitte district) and was laid out between 1909 and 1913. Initial plans for the establishment of a park on the Wurzelbergen and their surroundings have been in place since 1898. The Schiller Park is a protected garden monument. Under the name of Siedlung Schillerpark, there is a residential area owned by the park administration, which was built in the 1920s according to plans by the architect Bruno Tautweise.
As early as 1898, the first job was to create a park on the ridge of the Wurzel Wurzelge and its surroundings. This area is a permanent dune area exposed to the wind (1810 and eight windmills between Müllerstrasse and Schäferstrasse), and drifting sand was the cause, which is the owner of the residents. The conflicts over the extension and design of the park lasted for several years. In 1903, the city council of the boundaries of the park rights and the magistrate were authorized to purchase the property. A content on the 100th anniversary of Friedrich Schiller's death in 1905, the poet became the patron saint of the Interesting Park.
In 1907 a design competition was advertised for 105 employment contracts. Among these, the design by the Magdeburg garden architect Friedrich Bauer (1872–1937) under the title “Joy of beautiful gods spark” was honored with 5000 marks. Bauer designed a park; Likewise, the park “gives the last desire the possibility of serious contemplation, quiet solemnity and less, not the slightest, full joy and exquisite splendor of beauty”. Bauer's planning concept envisaged laid-back lawns as play areas and sunbathing areas with wooded strips of wood to protect them. A terrace system was treated as a central reference condition, rights avenues and rose gardens further subdivide the site. In the same way as the political parks (such as the Volkspark Friedrichshain), which were built according to stately models and belonged more to a botanical garden, nothing more than the passive property of nature, also sport a for positions, were in the Schillerpark. The Schillerpark is the first in the series of modern public parks.
The work from 1909 to 1913. The Schiller oak was procured from Schiller's birthplace Marbach am Neckar. On the bastion, the terrace area in the park was used to cast the Schiller monument by Reinhold Begaszüge, which stood on Gendarmenmarkt.
In addition to sports, games and recreational activities, the student meadow with the personal terrace area al. Meeting place and clientele.
On old maps you can see that the Schillerpark is criss-crossed by two chains of hills that can still be known today: Barfusstraße becomes Schillerpark in two sections, that of the road is the Rehberge, that of the road is dying. In this respect, the name Rehberge is not entirely correct for the nearby Volkspark: The chain of hills in the new Volkspark Rehberge are the Leutnantsberge, which stretch in an easterly direction to the Rehbergen, but which are in the area.
The Schillerpark leads to the three responsible parks in Berlin-Hochzeit and has been preserved in its original state, which is why it was already included in the list of garden monuments in 1986.
In August 2011 there was a bomb attack in the park that turned man heavy. The bomb was next to a park bench in a plastic bag that the man had picked up
