The first congregation of doctrinaire missionaries to arrive in the city of Arequipa were the Dominicans, the first temple built by this congregation has a facade and a central nave dating from 1647, later in 1949 a polygonal tower was added.

The front of this church is characterized by a very careful carving of vines, conjugated with cantuta flowers and trumpeting angels. It withstood numerous telluric events in the years 1582, 1604 but had to be rehabilitated due to the damage of the 1868 earthquake.
