The Haus am Checkpoint Charlie Museum, founded by human rights activist Dr. Rainer Hildebrandt, is a museum like no other. Since its humble beginning in October 1962 on the recently erected Berlin Wall, the museum has evolved into an exhibition of over 2000m2, which explores not only the history of the Berlin Wall and the stories of those affected by it, but also looks at for the challenges we face today such as the struggle for the worldwide recognition of human rights and freedom.
Here you can discover objects used to escape over, under and through the Berlin Wall, and read the stories of those fugitives who risked their lives to gain their freedom. It is a way to keep alive the memory of others who died in the attempt to escape and you can be part of this important work.
The Museum is open every day of the year, from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm, including festive seasons such as Christmas and Easter and other holidays.
Ticket prices
Adults: € 12.50
Groups of 20 or more: € 8.50 / adult
Students: € 9.50
Students from school 7-18: 6.50 €
Children up to 6 years: free
Social Ticket (ie Berlinpass): € 3.50
Family ticket: € 12.50 for each parent, up to three children aged 13 years.
Disabled persons with a valid certificate: € 5.50 (registered assistant = free)
