The space offers activities related to the preservation of cultural heritage, such as courses, exhibitions, seminars and educational activities.
The Cultural Preservation Center (CPC), created in October 2002, is a body subordinate to the Dean of Culture and University Extension of the University of São Paulo, which replaces the Cultural Heritage Commission, continuing its activities, which began in 1986
In 2004, the CPC had its headquarters transferred from the University City campus to Dona Yayá House. This listed property was incorporated into USP as a heritage in 1969, when the last owner, Sebastiana de Mello Freire, Dona Yayá died in 1961.
The actions of the CPC are based on studies that, through the establishment of criteria for conservation, restoration and use, seek to provide reflections on the themes of cultural heritage. Work-related practices make it possible to carry out broad and diverse sets of activities, based on their programs and work axes.
