It is the old train station. In 1890 the Peruvian Corporation started the downtown rail project. Three years later it comes into operation with the inauguration of the Lima - La Oroya route, the railway section that has the highest pass in the world at the Ticlio Pass (4,818 masl).
The building that can be seen today is the work of the architect Rafael Marquina, who completed it in 1912. The monumental building is the visual culmination of the Carabaya shred. It is a three-story building that exhibits a four-fronted facade.
Inside you can see the monumental main staircase and the large stained glass lamp that covers the waiting and boarding room. There is also a famous steam locomotive exhibiting the famous presidential wagon ´´Paquita´´ and dating from the 19th century.

Visits: Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 16:00
The traveler can sit and rest on their classic wrought iron benches with wood. And there, imaginatively reconstructing the history of this old railway station that owes its name to the Jesuit convent Nuestra Señora de Desamparados, on which it was built.
The construction is made of reinforced concrete, with iron structures. The design of the lamppost and the wooden furniture show off the art nouveau style. At present it has an administrative use, and eventually fulfills the cargo and excursion service from Lima to the Central Sierra.
