It is useful to know that Lima's Barefoot Convent was founded in 1595 as a home for Franciscan elders by layman Andrés Corzo in what is now Rímac district.
The Convento de los Descalzos, which is a national historical monument, is located at the end of Alameda de los Descalzos, formerly called Alameda Vieja Castilla, in the mid-19th century, remodeled it, giving it the neoclassical aspect it still has today).
